There is no piped
methane gas on the island; this is substituted by
bottled gas which may be purchased from authorized
dealers.
Each town has it own post office; there are
good telecommunication links and cell
phone signals cover most of the island.
Camper vans and caravans are not permitted
to stop outside the authorized camping areas.
All forms of free camping are prohibited by
Town Council and Tuscan Archipelago National
Park regulations (you risk a fine if you place
a picnic table outside your camper/caravan
or stand your camper on its supporting feet).
The only authorized waiting, fuelling and discharge
areas (besides camping sites) are:
- Porto Azzurro (loc. Bocchetto)
1 km after Porto Azzurro in the direction for
Rio nell’Elba, on the right near the cemetery.
